The City of Shelbyville is accepting applications for a full-time Turf Equipment Technician.

General Duties: This position is supervised by the Golf Course Superintendent or Golf Course General Manager, and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: providing preventative maintenance on all equipment to ensure safety and functionality; inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing any mechanical defects that are identified; communicating with the Golf Superintendent regarding all equipment issues, part needs, or purchases required; maintaining a clean and organized shop environment; following safety protocol when inspecting and working on equipment; maintaining accurate and up-to-date maintenance records on all equipment and any repairs made; providing assistance and working outside of the shop when needed to help support the daily operations and maintenance of the golf course.

Qualifications: High School diploma or General Educational Development certificate (GED), supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years of mechanical experience. Trade school certifications and/or previous golf course experience is preferred, but not required.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to weld; ability to work on both gas and diesel equipment, and diagnose any issues with such equipment; knowledge of hydraulics and electrical systems, or the ability to learn; knowledge about safe work practices, and the ability to incorporate them into daily job functions; understand and utilize proper lifting techniques; ability to multitask, especially when equipment emergencies arise; self-motivated, with the ability to work well independently or in a team environment.

Salary Information: $15/hour. Excellent benefits package.
