Full-time; Pay Grade 534 This position is Exempt and not eligible for overtime.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this classification is to provide leadership and direction to employees who maintain care, custody and control of over 1,200 inmates; and, provide a constitutional level of care within budget. This classification works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in corrections, criminal justice, business administration or related field; and, over ten years of progressive experience in the criminal justice field with a preference in corrections; or, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Driver’s License

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Oversees and leads the daily operations, development, and management of the division.
  • Represents the division in public meetings and coordinates with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies on various projects, as needed.
  • Directs the development of internal policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and regulations; ensures compliance with all laws and regulations.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: For positions located within the Division of Community Corrections, must be a United States citizen; Must be at least 21 years of age; subject to extended duty hours and a 24-hour call back; subject to shift work, holidays and weekend duty; Must not have been convicted of any felony or serious misdemeanor; and, subject to an extensive background check and bi-annual tuberculosis testing.
