Ann Deatherage Conference Scholarship 2020 Recipients Named

The Ann C. Deatherage Leadership Enrichment And Development (LEAD) Scholarship Program for Kentucky Mayors

Mayor Ann Cline Deatherage, who passed away in February 2020, was a local leader in the truest sense.  Her profound impact on her city and community will long be remembered by the people she served, her many friends and associates in cities across Kentucky and at KLC.  In honor of Ann Cline Deatherage’s passion for lifelong learning and her commitment to community and public service, her family has established the Mayor Ann C. Deatherage LEAD Award.  The “Leadership Enrichment And Development” (LEAD) scholarship program will benefit mayors throughout  Kentucky by providing financial assistance for Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) conferences and learning events.

The first group of LEAD Award recipients include:
Mayor Barbara Campbell, City of Kuttawa
Mayor Bill Guffey, City of Burkesville
Mayor Mike Hughes, City of Auburn
Mayor Vicki Hughes, City of Island
Mayor Charles King, City of Hawesville
Mayor Joseph Robinson, City of Bedford

In addition to serving in leadership at KLC as a Board of Directors and Executive Board member, Mayor Deatherage acquired more continuing education hours than any city official in the state. As a result, she inspired a KLC Master’s Level training program to recognize city officials whose commitment to learning reaches an exceptional level. Her devotion to making her city a better place impressed all who knew her and had a profound impact on her community. Through the scholarship, her example will enable others to follow her lead.
