Description: Grant opportunity designed to address economic distress via workforce development activities throughout the Appalachian and Delta regions. The WORC Initiative grants take a long-term view toward assisting eligible communities in diversifying their economies by investing in local strategies developed by regional partners. The goal of this grant opportunity is to create economic prosperity and gainful employment opportunities for eligible individuals of the Appalachian and Delta regions, enabling them to remain and thrive in these communities.
Funded Activities: training and work-based learning models aligning with target community’s strategic plan; employability skills training; projects to enhance regional service provision (i.e. broadband expansion, bridging programs for local industry, etc.); employer support services and toolkits; approved capital improvement projects related to workforce and economic development.
