Play It Forward Grant to Promote Tennis Participation - March 31

Grants to increase participation in the sport of tennis. The primary focus of this program is to increase and retain the number of tennis players within the southern region.

Support will be given to supporting areas where there are few or no existing tennis programs, or where successful programs can be expanded to new sites. USTA Southern seeks to identify innovative and entrepreneurial ways that the sport of tennis can be delivered in local areas. Once successful models are identified, USTA Southern will replicate them in other locations.

USTA Southern seeks to help people find and participate in local tennis programs, leagues, and events that are both sanctioned by the USTA (i.e. those that are governed by USTA Rules and Regulations) and not formally sanctioned by the USTA. Consideration will be given to new programming and activities that will grow participation in the sport provided those solutions meet the following criteria.

Providers must offer solutions that:

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Can be replicated in similar areas
  • Will become self-sustaining (profitable)
  • Are open to all audiences
  • Are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Results Focused and Time-Bound)
  • Include regular milestones and reporting to USTA Southern

The maximum grant request is $100,000 total, which may be spread over a period of one to three years.
