Public trust is one of a city’s most valuable assets, and strong ethics policies play a critical role in earning and maintaining that trust. This session will explore how cities can foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency while ensuring compliance with Kentucky law.
Attendees will receive an overview of the statutory requirements for city ethics ordinances under KRS 65.003. The session will break down the purpose behind these requirements and explain how ethics ordinances help guide decision-making for elected officials, appointed officials, and city employees alike.
Beyond legal requirements, the session will also focus on practical best practices to help cities proactively address ethical concerns before they become larger issues. It will also examine how ethics policies can strengthen public confidence, improve organizational culture, and protect both the city and its officials from unnecessary risk. Whether your city is reviewing its current ordinance, updating policies, or simply looking to reinforce ethical leadership, this session will provide valuable guidance and practical tools to help your city operate with transparency and integrity.
