General duties: This position serves under the supervision of the Police Sergeant. Routinely works 8-hour shifts, 40-hour work week, rotating days off, bi-weekly pay period. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: enforcing federal, state, and local laws; patrol city limits for the protection of life and property, prevention of crime, investigation of crime, apprehension of criminals, direction of vehicular and pedestrian traffic and the general enforcement of laws and ordinances; preparing reports and giving testimony in court; responding to request for police assistance; provide traffic control; cooperation with federal, state and local agencies in emergency situations; and attend mandatory continuing education and training programs.

Qualifications: Must be twenty-one (21) years of age and possess a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Must possess P. O. P. S. Certification and have at least two (2) years of experience.

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of current developments in law enforcement and public safety, federal, state, and local laws, administrative regulations and ordinances; modern police principles, practices and methods. Ability to be proficient and knowledgeable in the use of various firearms; establish and maintain effective working and communication skills with co-workers and the general public..

Salary Information: $33,500 - $36,400, plus $4,000 KLEFPF incentive program
