The Kentucky League of Cities established the Dr. Joseph W. Coleman Memorial Scholarship to honor Joseph’s lifelong commitment to continuous learning and local government.
Joseph was a longtime KLC staff member dedicated to education and local governance. He was an expert in parliamentary procedures and possessed a wealth of knowledge on municipal governments, federal policy, and government organization.
The Dr. Joseph W. Coleman Memorial Scholarship seeks to honor his contributions to Kentucky and his generous spirit by supporting students pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree. The scholarship is open to Kentucky students attending a Kentucky-based institution, both in-person and online. KLC staff and their family members are not eligible.
KLC awards $5,000 a year to one recipient. The scholarship does not automatically renew. However, previous winners may apply for subsequent years.
