STARTING SALARY Police Cadet II - $50,565 plus full benefits Police Officer (Academy start date)- $62,040/year; plus full benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY

  • Age 21 by Bowling Green Law Enforcement Academy (BGLEA) graduation date
  • U.S. Citizen
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Good driving, police, personal, & employment record
  • Male applicants between 18-26 must be registered with the Selective Service
  • Tattoo Policy - No visible tattoos in uniform (no head, face, neck, hand)

HIRING PROCESS The hiring process for police officer is year round. Successful applicants will be hired throughout the year as Police Cadet II (non-hazardous position). This is a full-time position that receives full benefits. Police Cadet II will be promoted to Police Officer on or before the BGLEA start date. In order to be hired as a Police Cadet II applicants must meet/complete the following requirements:

  • Submit an online application
  • Submit/complete the Bowling Green Law Enforcement Application; Pre-Polygraph Questionnaire (Form I-2)
  • Successfully pass POPS physical test
  • Complete the Suitability Screening
  • Complete/pass the polygraph and psychological evaluation
  • Successfully pass a thorough background investigation
  • Complete Oral Interview/Scenario/Essential Skills
  • Pre-employment physical
