Nominations Now Open for 2022 KLC Awards

The Kentucky League of Cities is now accepting applications for the 2022 KLC Awards and LEAD Award.

Since 1999, the Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) has recognized cities, city officials, and city employees for their contributions to the commonwealth. The annual awards program for Elected City Official of the Year, City Employee of the Year, and City Government of the Year is an opportunity to recognize the exceptional work being done by Kentucky cities and the people leading them.

The Elected City Official of the Year Award recognizes outstanding leaders for their innovation and excellence in local governance and celebrates their achievements.

The KLC City Employee of the Year recognizes outstanding city employees and celebrates their achievements.

The City Government of the Year celebrates cities and allows KLC members of all sizes to be inspired by, learn from, and replicate successes in other cities.

Please submit your nominations for the 2022 KLC Awards by July 15, 2022. You can access nomination links for any of the three categories here.

The 2022 “Leadership Enrichment And Development” (LEAD) Award recognizes Kentucky mayors whose leadership demonstrates a passion for local public service and a commitment to lifelong learning. The LEAD Award is specifically designed to benefit mayors from cities with a limited education/training budget.

The award was named to honor the late Ann Deatherage, a lifelong public servant who served as councilmember and mayor of the City of Carrollton. After her passing in February 2020, her family wished to endow an award through KLC to honor her legacy, and KLC established the Mayor Ann C. Deatherage LEAD Award. LEAD Award nominates are due by August 1, 2022
