U.S. Department of Transportation grants are available to government agencies, tribal governments, and metropolitan planning organizations to improve road safety and prevent injuries and death on streets and roads.
Applicants are advised that required registrations may take several weeks to complete.
There are two types of SS4A grants: Planning and Demonstration Grants and Implementation Grants. The purpose of SS4A grants is to improve roadway safety by significantly reducing or eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries through safety action plan development and refinement and implementation focused on all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, personal conveyance and micromobility users, and commercial vehicle operators.
