KLCIS recognizes the importance of ongoing legal updates for law enforcement. An important component of effective police work is understanding and properly applying Kentucky Revised Statues which provide safer communities within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Officers should continually train on updated case law from the US Supreme Court and 6th Circuit. All training should be documented and preserved with departmental records. Refer to KLCIS Model Policy on Training.
The primary source of legal training comes from KY Department of Criminal Justice Training Legal Section. Please visit their website for numerous sources of training and information. KLCIS Legal updates page is an additional resource for members of KY League of Cities. Additional information can be obtained from your local county and/or commonwealth attorney. Best investigative practice is to always consult with local prosecutors during investigations.
