The City of Prospect is seeking qualified applicants for the part-time position of Code Enforcement Officer.

Under the supervision of the Mayor and Police Chief, the Code Enforcement Officer will make regular patrols throughout the city to ensure compliance with the City’s code of ordinances, communicate with violators to remedy infractions, issue citations and present cases to the Code Enforcement Board as needed, and issue residential and commercial permits in accordance with the city code. This position requires extensive interaction with the public, the Prospect Police Department, and elected and appointed city officials.

Physical requirements include, but are not limited to, frequent exiting/entering a vehicle, walking on uneven or wet terrain, bending, stretching, lifting, and working at a computer terminal.

Duties may require working outside normal City Hall business hours at times. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of experience in code enforcement, law enforcement, residential construction, or some combination of experience and/or training thereof. Familiarity with GIS mapping (in particular LOJIC) and planning/zoning as well as ability to read and interpret property maps are also desired.

Salary: $20.00-$20.75/hour DOQ. This position will be part-time initially (20-25 hours/week) but may become full-time later with additional responsibilities.
