FULL TIME WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR (Trainee-Class III)

The City of Paris, KY is seeking a full-time WWTP Operator. This position is part of a team that is responsible for operating a wastewater treatment plant to ensure water discharged is in compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to health and public safety.

Job Duties:

  • Under immediate supervision, performs operations and maintenance on the wastewater treatment plant.
  • Performs regular rounds of daily plant inspections to monitor operating conditions, make adjustments and report required repairs to maintenance staff or management as needed
  • Records operational data, and/or meter and gauge readings on specified forms and reports
  • Collects and tests samples; sends samples to the water quality laboratory for analysis
  • Adds chemicals to disinfect and deodorize water and other liquids
  • Performs related work as assigned
  • Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of the tools and equipment used and preventative maintenance practices.
  • Candidates who are dependable, show initiative and sound judgement, and the ability to understand and to follow instructions are preferred.

Salary Range: Salary range based on experience and licenses: Trainee $13.00 - $19.00 per hour Class I $13.60 - $19.90 per hour Class II $16.40 - $24.10 per hour Class III $17.80 - $26.21 per hour

Job Type: Full-time Schedule: 8-hour Key Requirements High school or GED equivalent KY driver’s license Ability to acquire appropriate WWTP Treatment certifications as issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Minimum lifting restriction 50lbs frequently Flexible Schedule for emergency repairs.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for an extended period of time, walk and stand; talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms; operate heavy equipment that produce vibrations, perform repetitive movements of hands or wrist; crouch crawl; have the ability to move safely over uneven terrain. Must be able to wear personal protective gear correctly during the entire shift.
