Audubon Park, Kentucky is a small city where citizens value law enforcement and safety. Audubon Park has a population of just under 1500 residents with 8 square miles of road.

The Audubon Park Police Chief is expected to be involved in the day-to-day aspects of patrol as an active member and leader of this small department, which consists of 4 full-time officers, including the chief, 9 part-time officers, and several reserve officers. Responsibilities:

  • Administer and enforce rules and regulations for the control, disposition, and discipline of the department and of its officers and employees.
  • Assign details, powers, functions, and duties to officers and employees within the department.
  • Delegate such powers as deemed necessary for the efficient administration of the department.
  • Attend all regularly scheduled meetings of the Audubon Park City Council to report each month’s activity of the Police Department.
  • Assure that proper records are kept and maintained within the Audubon Park Police Department.
  • Delineate the internal organization of the department and the duties of his/her subordinates and assistants.
  • Prepare the Police Department budget for submission to the Mayor.
  • The Chief of Police is the final department authority in all matters of policy, operations, and discipline, and is subject to the regulations of the Mayor and/or City Council.

Skills:

  • Proven working experience in law enforcement.
  • Proficiency in using police equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of standard operating procedures, judicial procedures, civil and constitutional laws
  • Working knowledge of interrogation techniques and scene management
  • Knowledge and skills of law enforcement principles and practices
  • Adequate interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Sound judgement along with effective decision-making skills
  • Conflict resolutions and problem-solving skills
  • Responsibility, dependability, honesty, and integrity

Requirements:

  • Experience supervising a small law enforcement unit.
  • Willing to submit to criminal background checks.
  • Valid driving license
  • BS degree in police science, criminal justice, justice administration, or related field is desirable. Comparable experience will be considered.
  • Impeccable record.

Full-time Salary: From $60,000- $65,000 per year based on experience.
