The Marion-Crittenden County E911 has full-time telecommunications position available. This Position is a 3rd shift position. No resumes will be accepted without a City of Marion application which can be found on the City of Marion website or picked in person from the dispatch office or Marion City Hall. Both can be dropped off in person or emailed to emcdonald@marionky.gov

Job Description: Answers and dispatches non-emergency and emergency phone calls to appropriate responders. Enters data from both radio and telephone into computer aided dispatch computer. Monitors and answers numerous radio frequencies. Operates maps on computer terminal pin-pointing exact addresses and determines the best route for emergency responders. Comprehends radio traffic; Learns 10 codes and signals. Communicates with surrounding agencies. Assists persons who enter building requesting help. Serves as point of contact between county agencies. Performs office duties; operates general office equipment. Maintains daily cleaning of department and personal workstations. Maintains security of the building. Assists with responders and maintains all information in a confidential manner and performs all other duties as assigned that may not be listed in this description.

Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited high school or GED, be able to pass a drug screen and pass a background check submitted via fingerprints. Must complete required training for a certified Telecommunicator during the first year after appointment to the position and must complete in-service training annually: Telecommunication DOCJT- 4 week academy. Must possess and maintain valid driver’s license, and Department of Criminal Justice Training Center required yearly in-service to maintain certifications.

All resumes must be accompanied by a City of Marion job application. Salary is $14.07 for non-certified dispatchers with a 10% raise upon completion of training. Certified dispatchers’ salary is $15.63/hour. Dispatchers pay with 5 years’ experience $15.94/hour. Upon completion of a probationary period, employee benefits include 100% of the employee’s health insurance premiums; 25% of any covered family members; and vacation/holiday pay.
