Position Summary: Responsible for administrative support to the KLC Insurance Agency, meeting deadlines, problem solving, employee benefits and health insurance account management, providing logistical support, and working in a team-oriented atmosphere; does related work as required.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Agency Operations. This is sedentary to light work that requires limited physical effort.
- Processes applications for employee benefits and health. Reviews applications for missing information and forwards completed applications to the appropriate carrier/third party administrator.
- Assists employers with the enrollment system (username, passwords and/or monthly invoices).
- Provides exceptional customer service to members, insurance agents, and KLC staff in regard to insurance needs.
- Assists members in obtaining copies of their ID card, and contacting providers and pharmacies for the member.
- Educates and helps members with their telemedicine, EAP, and enrollment platform needs.
- Assists members with filing and tracking claims and resolving claim issues. Communicates to group with information that is missing from submitted paperwork. Advises group when changes are occurring to certain employees; i.e. life insurance age reductions and overage dependents.
- Updates group information to include but not limited to, contact, salary survey, and beneficiary.
- Understands and explains employee benefits. This includes, but is not limited to, health savings accounts, health reimbursement accounts, flexible spending accounts,125 Plans, HIPPA, COBRA, and waiting periods. Must possess a basic understanding of the Affordable Health Care Act.
- Assists with packets for presentations and open enrollment to boards, legislative bodies, and employees.
- Documents all activity in the applied software system relating to each account, including filing and phone notes.
- Assists and supports marketing agent/senior marketing agent in servicing the local agent, member, and employees within the territory assigned; assists and educates local agent on quoting process; and markets and cross-sells all lines of coverage.
- Travels in-state, as needed, to assist with employee benefit presentations.
- Services member needs and questions regarding bonds.
- Maintains a working knowledge of the KLC property and casualty program and supports KLC with these programs.
- Educates, markets, and services bond products.
- Provides backup to the department as employees take leave.
- Follows up with clients on their premium payment/delinquency of account monthly.
- Assists KLCIA/KLC with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Performs special projects as assigned to include, but not limited to spreadsheets, critical thinking exercise, audit assistance, and cross-department collaboration/support.
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and extensive clerical experience working with Word, Applied Systems, and data processing equipment. Minimum of three years of experience in the insurance industry.
Special Requirements: Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Health and Life license required. Must be willing to obtain the necessary training to be licensed as a property and casualty agent and maintain license during employment.
