Kentucky cities have an opportunity to receive national recognition for dedicated service to their young people. The National Civic League (NCL) is now accepting applications for the 2023 All-America City Award. The NCL seeks to identify cities that work to improve the lives of young people. This year’s theme is "Strengthening Democracy through Local Action and Innovation."
Applicants must show the innovative ways they have equitably engaged community members in activities that strengthen democratic processes - like making it easier to vote, engage in community affairs, and serve in leadership roles.
The National Civic League has named five Kentucky cities an All-America City since the program began in 1949. Your city can join them by submitting a letter of intent to apply by Dec. 14, 2023. The letter of intent saves your city the traditional $100 application fee but is not a requirement to apply for the All-America City Award. Applications are due Feb. 13, 2024, and can be downloaded here.
Kentucky cities that have received the award include:
• Danville – 1968
• Hopkinsville – 1964
• Louisville – 1963, 1995, 2012, 2022
• Owensboro – 1952, 2013
• Pikeville - 1965
