Safe Streets and Roads for All Grants Application Now Open

The Safe Streets and Roads for All grants fiscal year 2023 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NFO) is now live on Grants.gov and open for applications.

The application deadline is July 10, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. EST.

Cities are eligible for these important grants that provide funding to local governments, transit agencies, and multijurisdictional groups through two types of grants.

1. Action Plan Grants that develop, update, or support a comprehensive safety action plan for submitting agencies, or
2. Implementation Grants that implement projects identified in a safety action plan.

Safety action plans are similar to Local Road Safety Plans recently introduced to Kentucky by KYTC and FHWA and supported by UK/T2. These plans must meet specific requirements established by the program. The plans serve as the basis for project identification and prioritization to direct implementation funding. Once developed, the Safety Action Plan may be used to pursue funding through the SS4A program or the KYTC Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).
