The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet is now accepting applications for its 2025 Litter Abatement Grant Funding Program. Funding is intended for direct expenses incurred by cities during the 2025 calendar year and associated with anti-litter programs and litter cleanup on public roads.
Signed “City Request and Agreement for Litter Abatement Program Grant Funding” documents must be received in the Department for Environmental Protection office by 4:30 p.m. EDT on Nov. 1, 2024. The funding each city is eligible to receive will be determined after that date. Any funding received but not spent during calendar year 2025 must be reimbursed to the cabinet by April 15, 2026.
Applicants should submit a copy of the city’s solid waste ordinance or solid waste contract to demonstrate compliance with eligibility requirements and the agreement to Environmental Scientist Consultant Lisa Evans at lisa.evans@ky.gov. Cities must submit a completed “City Litter Abatement Program Annual Report and Certification for Grant Funding” signed by the mayor to the Kentucky Division of Waste Management by Feb. 1, 2026.
