KLC Welcomes Kentucky Little Citizens

As we continue to work on building civic understanding among Kentucky’s young people, KLC is proud to introduce Kentucky Little Citizens.

The new program completes the transition from our “City Government Month” program and introduces a new and reimagined way to engage students in grades K-2 in a fun and age-appropriate way. Kentucky Little Citizens aligns with Kentucky’s academic standards and is packed with tools for classrooms, educators, and city officials while reflecting KLC’s broader commitment to this grassroots civic education program and the future leaders of our cities.

"The Kentucky League of Cities is proud to invest in the future of our cities by helping our youngest learners understand the value of local government through this exciting new program,” KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney said. "This program represents a fresh and engaging approach to civics education that we are certain will help inspire curiosity, leadership, and pride in Kentucky students — and a deeper connection to their cities — from the very start."

The Kentucky Little Citizens program features an outstanding new website, a redesigned program look, updated lesson plans, and expanded opportunities to engage students in schools across the commonwealth.
