KLC Virtual Conference Scholarship Apps due September 4

KLC Virtual Conference & Expo – RE-VISION: A New View September 21 – 25, 2020
Scholarship Opportunities
All Applications are due September 4, 2020.

Three Types of Conference Scholarships are Available for KLC Members

The Kentucky League of Cities understands that many cities across the commonwealth have had to significantly cut their training budgets due to the effects of COVID-19. Therefore, we are providing scholarship opportunities to KLC members who may want to attend the 2020 KLC Virtual Conference & Expo, but have a financial hardship preventing attendance at this year’s event. We will be providing up to five scholarships for both first-time attendees and for returning attendees (a total of 10). Each scholarship award will be for $200 to cover the full member registration cost.

Eligibility Requirements for General Scholarships

  • Applicant must be a member of the Kentucky League of Cities.
  • Applicant must have a financial need.
  • Applications must be completed by September 4, 2020.
  • Scholarship recipients will be notified in writing by the Kentucky League of Cities and automatically registered for the conference.
  • If the recipient is already registered, a refund will be processed to the original method of payment.
  • In the event that an award recipient is not able to attend the KLC Virtual Conference & Expo, an alternate will be chosen to receive the scholarship

In addition to the general scholarships, the family of the late Ann Deatherage, former City of Carrollton, Kentucky Mayor and Councilmember has established the Ann C. Deatherage LEAD Scholarship for mayors.  During her career in public service, Mayor Deatherage acquired more continuing education hours than any city official in the state, inspiring a KLC Master’s Level training program. Five mayors will be awarded 2020 KLC Conference & Expo scholarships for this program.  It will also include registration for the 2021 City Officials Academy event.  Learn more about this scholarship program.
