Position: Ground Technician, Lineman Apprentice, Lineman
Reports to: Electric Foreman, Electric Superintendent
Department: 02.213 Core Work
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7a-4p
FLSA: Non-exempt
Grade: Varies
Supervisory: No
Pay will vary based upon experience of candidate, range will be $16.75 - 28.85.
JOB SUMMARY: Under close supervision, performs apprentice-level ground work in the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution systems; and does related work as required. OR Under general supervision, performs highly skilled journeyman level work in the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution systems; may serve as assistant line foreman when needed; and does related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Assists in erecting, removing and climbing poles, towers, steel and related structures. Assists in assembling, installing, removing and transferring such line hardware and electrical equipment as transformers, cross-arms, Insulators, lightning arrestor, guy cables, and related equipment. Trims and removes trees. Assists In installation and maintenance of underground residential distribution. Assists in loading, unloading and operating wire pulling equipment. Assists in repairing breakdowns. Assists in all other departments when necessary. May assist in power plant operator duties. Performs connects/disconnects for services, daily. Works on call hours from time to time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience: Graduation from an accredited high school or its equivalent (GED) or graduation from vocational school. Special Necessary Requirements: Valid Kentucky driver's license. Active CDL License Skills and Abilities: Familiarity with basic electricity. Working knowledge of safety procedures. Ability to work in inclement weather. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with employees, superiors and the public. OR Considerable knowledge of basic electricity. Ability to climb poles and work with electrical lines using proper safety and precautionary measures. Considerable knowledge of safety measures. Ability to work in inclement weather and perform heavy labor. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, superiors and the public. Ability to read blue prints and make simple drawings and stake lines.
Salary Information: $16.75 - $28.85
