Kentucky League of Cities Insurance Services (KLCIS) is now taking applications for the 2022 Workers’ Compensation Safety Grant. The matching grants are a great way for cities and agencies to fund programs, services, and equipment that aim to keep communities and people safe and reduce injury claims. The grants are available to members of the KLCIS workers’ compensation insurance program.
KLCIS will accept applications until April 15, 2022, and award funds on a first-come, first-serve basis. Recipients can use the money on various items, including personal protective equipment (PPE), KLCIS Risk and Safety Conference attendance, safety training, and various safety equipment. You can learn more about 2022 eligible items here.
Insured members are limited to one application, and eligibility levels are dependent on total workers’ compensation premium amounts. Applications must be submitted online, and you will immediately receive a confirmation email once a submission is successful. We will send a second email notification when your application is approved. KLCIS will disperse grant funds after the close of the application period.
To apply, log into your klc.org account here. Once logged in, scroll down until you see "Member Resources" on the bottom right side (see example) or at the bottom in mobile view. Then, click on "2022 Workers’ Compensation Safety Grant" at the bottom of the member resources list.
Invoices, purchase orders, and receipts must be uploaded at the time of application and must be dated July 1, 2021, to April 15, 2022. Due to the popularity of the grant, KLC advises members to apply early.
Grants are made available through KLCIS ‒ a self-insured, member-owned program governed by a Board of Trustees comprised of representatives from the participating members. Cities, their agencies, boards, commissions, units of local government, and other non-profit public purpose organizations are eligible to participate in our insurance programs. KLC Insurance Services offers general liability, public officials’ liability, law enforcement liability, and automobile coverages on an occurrence basis, with no annual aggregate limit. Cyber liability and sewer backup liability are also available.
