Cities can now apply for Round 2 of the Kentucky Product Development Initiative (KPDI). Funding is available to help upgrade industrial sites and buildings.
KPDI is a collaboration of the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and the Kentucky Association for Economic Development (KAED). In all, $100 million is available through various funding rounds to help transform sites and infrastructure to generate increased economic development opportunities and create jobs.
The state recently notified recipients of Round 1 funding. This all-new round of funding includes all local governments and economic development organizations in all 120 Kentucky counties. A total maximum allowed is calculated based on population, but each project has a $2 million maximum per county. Applicants are encouraged to submit regional projects that include multiple counties and local governments, which would increase the allowable payout.
