The Kentucky League of Cities has the statutory responsibility to recommend members for appointment to several state boards, commissions, task forces, and work groups. To fulfill this obligation, KLC submits names to the Governor’s Office for consideration in filling newly created and expiring board positions. Currently, KLC is seeking individuals who are interested in serving on the following boards:
Composition – Governor appoints 12 members as follows: Two members each selected from a list of three nominees submitted by the following organizations: Kentucky Animal Control Association, Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, Kentucky Farm Bureau, Kentucky Association of Counties (KACo), Kentucky Houndsmen Association, and Kentucky League of Cities. The board selects a chair for a term of two years.
Term – Four years
Compensation – $100 per day and expenses
Description – Created to evaluate applications for and review disbursements from the animal control and care fund, create training programs, and other duties related to animal control and care in the counties of the commonwealth.
Meetings - Quarterly
Composition – The Kentucky Geographic Information Advisory Council shall consist of 24 members and one legislative liaison.
Term – Four years
Compensation – None
Description – The members shall be knowledgeable in the use and application of geographic information systems technology and have sufficient authority within their organizations to influence the implementation of council recommendations.
Meetings – Quarterly
Composition – The Transportation Center Advisory Board shall consist of nine members appointed by the governor.
Term – Two years
Compensation – Expenses
Description – Serves as the link for bringing together academic, private, and governmental resources to develop an effective and efficient transport system in the commonwealth by delivering information, training, technical assistance, and research for transportation providers and users.
Meetings – Semi-annually at the University of Kentucky in Lexington
Composition – The Kentucky Water Resources Board shall consist of 11 members.
Term - Four years
Compensation - None
Description - The Kentucky Water Resources Board shall assist the cabinet in conducting research and developing recommendations to enhance the quality of water resources accessible for agricultural production in the state.
Meetings - As needed by the chair
Composition - The Kentucky Wireless Interoperability Executive Committee consists of 20 members.
Term – Two years
Compensation – None
Description – The executive director shall establish and implement a statewide public safety interoperability plan. The committee shall serve as the advisory body for all wireless communications strategies presented by agencies of the commonwealth and local governments. The committee shall develop funding and support plans for the maintenance of and technological upgrades to the public safety shared infrastructure and make recommendations to the executive director, the Governor's Office for Policy and Management, and the General Assembly.
