New Resources for Coal Communities

The Interagency Working Group on Coal and Power Plant Communities and Economic Revitalization (Energy Communities IWG) has two new resources to support communities navigating economic and energy transitions. These resources complement the House Bill 9 G.R.A.N.T. initiative available to cities in 95 Kentucky counties through the Kentucky Department for Local Government. Energy Communities IWG promotes job-creating investments in communities impacted by declining coal production and generation from coal-fired power plants.

Among the new resources is a Getting Started Guide to help communities and workers plan and respond to economic and social changes and a new Navigator. The page promises to link city officials with resources and support to help utilize federal agencies and opportunities.

Anyone with questions about the new resources or Energy Communities IWG can contact the agency at contact@EnergyCommunities.gov.
