Grants are offered to provide training on preventing workplace injuries and illnesses. Applicants must submit an LOI and complete required registrations prior to applying. NIOSH / CDC invites grant applications for Training Project Grants (TPGs) that are focused on occupational safety and health training.
NIOSH is mandated to provide an adequate supply of qualified personnel to carry out the purposes of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. NIOSH-supported education and research centers (ERCs), and TPGs are how NIOSH meets this mandate. The majority of TPGs are in academic institutions and provide high quality undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate training in a variety of occupational safety and health (OSH) and allied disciplines. NIOSH also funds non-academic TPGs to meet the specific training needs of targeted populations, including firefighters, commercial fishermen, and OSH interns.
The expected objectives/outcomes by the end of the performance period are for an increase in highly trained, knowledgeable individuals with varying skills to positively impact the health, safety, and well-being of our nation's workforce through a broad range of training programs. Through academic and non-academic programs alike, there should be an increase in capacity to promote OSH in a variety of settings and sectors.
