FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grants - Due Dec. 20

The Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program is designed to enhance the health and safety of public and firefighting personnel and to provide support for emergency responders regarding fire, medical, and all hazard events, and 2,000 grants are expected to be awarded.

Funds may be used for:

• Operations and safety activities such as:

o Training

    o Equipment

    o Personal protective equipment (PPE)

    o Wellness and fitness programs

    o Modifications to facilities

Eligibility

Eligible applicants are:

• Fire departments 
• Nonaffiliated EMS organizations 
• State fire rraining academies 
• Non-federal airport and/or port authority fire or EMS organizations that have a formally recognized arrangement with the local jurisdiction to provide fire suppression or emergency medical services on a first-due basis outside the confines of the airport or port facilities
• Vehicle acquisition Joint/regional interoperability projects
