It is a reality that homelessness exists in every community in Kentucky and whether it is highly visible or not, it impacts health care, education, business, law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services, code enforcement, economic development, housing and overall city management.
Professionals in the social services and affordable housing fields believe that city leaders must be part of any solution to the issue.
Based on questions from members, KLC has created a new long-term initiative around homelessness and affordable housing in our communities. The first tool is an overview piece titled Understanding Homelessness which includes a number of digital links, contacts and a list of suggestions to get started in examining how homelessness is affecting people in your own community, and first steps on taking action. KLC has also created a glossary of terms and acronyms related to homelessness and affordable housing.
