The health and safety of KLC members, staff, and attendees are always a top priority. With the number of COVID cases in Kentucky continuing to climb, KLC leadership made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 Conference & Expo planned for September 21-24 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington. It became clear that having such an event was not in the best interest of the people KLC serves or their communities.
KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney issued the following statement:
“The decision to cancel the conference this year was not made lightly. I am disappointed, as are the many KLC staff members who had put together what promised to be one of our most informative, fun, and creative events. However, we cannot ignore the spread of the Delta variant, increased hospitalizations, and the state’s growing COVID positivity rate. KLC encourages our city officials and city employees to consider getting a vaccine and take all Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) public health recommendations seriously. As you once again battle the spread of the virus in your hometowns, know that KLC is here to provide you whatever support you may need.”
KLC is providing full refunds and automatically canceling all hotel reservations made in the conference block with the Marriott or Embassy Suites. KLC will be providing alternative educational opportunities to members over the coming months.
