CITY OF RICHMOND POSITION DESCRIPTION CLASS TITLE: Maintenance Laborer

DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation

PAY GRADE: 6

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under immediate supervision performs routine and repetitive manual labor in the maintenance of park properties and the equipment therein.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Mows, operates equipment, does light mechanical labor, rakes leaves, does snow removal, has light-on the job supervisions duties, assists and or performs carpentry, painting, plumbing, equipment maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to follow and understand written and oral instructions. Ability to perform semi-skilled labor such as carpentry, plumbing, and light mechanical labor. Ability to get along with fellow-employees. Ability to set and maintain high work standards and to serve as working example to seasonal laborers.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Eighth grade education; or a substitution of experience in labor work for the education.

Salary Information: Pay Grade: 6 ($21,000 - $35,000)
