A second round of funding for the 2023 Community Wildfire Defense grant program is anticipated. Thirty-seven Kentucky counties and their incorporated cities rank high on the wildfire hazard scale and should begin preparing for the anticipated notification of funds availability (NOFA).
Previous eligible projects included planning (assistance with developing building codes, zoning ordinances, and land use planning), wildfire prevention and mitigation education/outreach, and the reduction of hazardous fuels/reduction of fire-adapted ecosystems. Please note that the list of eligible projects and activities may change. Check the NOFA when it is released.
