Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) – Due June 10

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice offers grants for safety equipment to enhance the protection of law enforcement officers. Applicants must complete required registrations prior to submitting an application. Equipment purchased under this program must conform to all current standards. Priority will be given to jurisdictions with fewer than 100,000 residents.

The Patrick Leahy Bulletproof Vest Partnership (BVP) reimburses states, units of local government, and federally recognized Indian tribes, for up to 50% of the cost of body armor vests purchased for law enforcement officers. 

Body Armor Vest Requirements: 

• Body armor vests purchased with BVP funds must have been tested through the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) Compliance Testing Program (CTP) and found to comply with the most current NIJ body armor standards

• Appear on the NIJ Compliant Products List as of the date the body armor was ordered be uniquely fitted; and made in the United States. In addition, applicants must have a written mandatory wear policy for uniformed patrol officers in place at the time of application.
