The Federal Railroad Administration and the Department of Transportation offer up to $1.1 billion in Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) grants. The RCE program’s purpose is to fund highway-rail or pathway-rail grade crossing improvement projects that focus on improving the safety and mobility of people and goods.
Eligible projects include grade separation or closure, track relocation, and the improvement or installation of protective devices, signals, signs, or other measures to improve safety.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 24, 2024.
