The Department of Criminal Justice Training Center (DOCJTC) opened a new building on Eastern Kentucky University's Richmond campus.
The Jody Cash Multipurpose Training Center is a 42,794-square-foot facility named in honor of Cash, a 22-year veteran law enforcement officer who died in the line of duty on May 16, 2022, while serving as the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office’s chief deputy. He had previously worked for the Murray State University Police and Kentucky State Police.
The Kentucky League of Cities Board of Directors supported the project and made a 2022 budget request for state legislators to provide funding. “KLC proudly supports law enforcement officers from across the commonwealth. It was an honor to work to help secure funding to make this state-of-the-art facility a reality and help strengthen Kentucky communities,” KLC Executive Director/CEO J.D. Chaney said.
“This state-of-the-art facility will provide recruits and students with the advanced training they need to face the evolving challenges of law enforcement,” said Department of Criminal Justice Training Commissioner Mike Bosse. “By equipping our officers with the skills and experience necessary to protect and serve, we will create a safer Kentucky for generations to come.”
